Meet Fenella...
Fenella Ross - Elmer BA (Hons) Printmaking
My journey as a Printmaker has been one which has included both my role as a Teacher & through my continuing practice in print, creating my own work in Printmaking through exploring a variety of processes, always keen to explore, including mixed-media, combining processes.
My work is inspired by Land and Seascapes, with a passion for life drawing.
I gained my Batchelor of Arts Degree majoring in Printmaking from Glasgow School of Art in 1987, graduating in my final year from Brighton Polytechnic following a move to Brighton in early 1987.
I have been a secondary teacher, working as a consultant in my role as an advanced
practitioner, for 28 Years, recently following my passion for Printmaking in my home studio, & exhibiting regularly.
I am a member of An Talla Solais, based in Ullapool. I am now tutoring in the local Community providing workshops & courses in Printmaking in art Groups & at community events.

I have a passion for Printmaking & have been revisiting Etchings using non toxic Printmaking Process, exploring Relief & Intaglio Printmaking in my personal studio space, creating Prints based on my love & Passion for Landscape, Seascape and Life Drawing.
Creating original hand pulled prints related to my birthplace in the Highlands of Scotland exploring iconic imagery from the life of the people in the area, such as fishing, harbour's, boats, crofts and the detritus that surrounds dereliction, also producing original & hand printed card designs, available individually or in packs.
I returned to live in the Highlands in November 2021, where I run my home studio from my old Croft house with 2 resident presses, materials & equipment for the production of Art and Printmaking with a view of Ben Wyvis from the studio.
I produce work in projects/series & work in sketch books and from my own photographs taken on site as well as sketches produced at the scene, these starting points are developed from ideas, of which I have way too many, so a need to narrow down these ideas into a conclusive series works better for me.
All my prints are printed on Archival Papers, and all are my own original imagery/designs, produced as Editions & Varied Editions, depending on the style, where Prints are in Varied Editions this is due to the painterly nature of the print, whether Lino, Drypoint or Collagraph.
